RE: Charging the batteries with no power at storage site

I open my knife-blade style disconnect. They stay 'good' for several months.
But at Calgary winter they could suffer from the cold. maybe better to take them in?

RE: Denver camping??

ST. Vrain State Park - about 15-20 minutes north of Thornton (depending on traffic) along I 25 is about the closest I can think of. It is accessed from a frontage road west side of I 25, from the Longmont exit.
Chatfield SP is at the far SW corner of the metro area. Tornton is on the far NE - a long commeute!

RE: Killer Virus Coming

Here is a direct quote from "truthorfiction.com":
Warning-Fiction! & Truth!
Summary of the eRumor
The eRumor warns of a virus just discovered by Mcafee or Norton and classed by Microsoft as the most destructive ever.
It says the virus destroys "Sector Zero" from the heard disk, sends itself to all the names in your email address book, wipes out the hard disk, and has caused a panic in New York, according to CNN.
It says that the subject will be "A Card for You", "Virtual Card for You", or "Postcard." Some versions also say the subject will be "Postcard from Hallmark."
The Truth
This particular email is a hoax---although there has been a real "Postcard" virus.
The hoax has circulated continuously on the Internet since at least 2001.
There is no known virus called "A card for you" or "A virtual card for you."

RE: Maintaining Batteries during storage

I use a battery disconnect switch ('knife" style) that I open whenever I store our trailer for more than a week. Have managed to keep enough charge on the two batteries to lift the trailer for hooking up and opening the slides for packing purposes over at least 3 months in AZ "winter' or CO summer.

Nope - there is Fredicksburg TX - in the heart of the Hill Country! This just points out the need for posters to be specific in their requests for information. Now - to the OP - which Fredricksburg are you asking about?

RE: Furnace Output Unbalanced

Our bedroom ducts are farthest from the furnace and heat flow is minimal. When the fiver was relatively new I had a tech tell me - just put one of the sink covers over an intermediate duct openin. That sure improved the bedroom heat flow. Replace that floor vent with one that has closing louvres for the same result.

RE: Thanksgiving campgrounds in North Kansas City

If you mean north end of KC MO - try the MO State Park at Excelsior Springs - Watkins Woolen Mill SP - is very nice. We have stayed there a couple of times while visiting grandchildren. Closer in we have also used the Jackson County Park - Lake Jacomo cg. I believe both of these are open.

RE: Phoenix to Oregon

We have spent several/many summers on the Oregon/Washingtoun coasts - latest last July/Aug/Sept. and based on your question here is what I can suggest. (the scenic route from Ftn. Hills area (we are in Mesa).
87 to Payson 260 etc to Holbrook and east to 191. !91 all the way to I 70 north of Moab (e Canyon de Chelly/Canyonlands/Arches NPs). I 70 west to I 15 and north to Pocatello ID. West on I 84 to Ontario OR. US 26 (or 20 but we prefer 26) to Bend area. be sure to spend at least a day in the Sisters rea. From Sisters/Bend go north on 97 to Madras then 26 thru' Portland all thhe way to the coast at Cannon Beach/Seaside ( or at Portland go west on US 30 to Astoria). On the coast it is US 101 all the way south (as above the best views are going from north to south). Now take lots of time to enjoy this magnificent coast! OR State parks along 101 are very nice but do get filled up in summer! Reservations are recommended! Last summer we picked about 3 for 5-10 days eachand explored north and south from each base. A couple of our favorites - Jesse Honeyman SP just south of Florence; Bullards Beach near Bandon, Ft. Stevens, north of Astoria.
Tired of the coast by now? - at Brookings head on down to Crescent City CA, then 199 to Grant's Pass and over to Medford and on to Crater Lake ( we stayed at Diamond l;ake -just north of Crater lake NP.
Then head home - probably via Reno/Las Vegas Bullhead City/KIngman.
Enjoy the trip but do make reservations early!

RE: CO2 Sensor Goes Off

You mean CO (carbon monoxide) detector. I would get a different one installed ASAP to make sure it is a faulty unit or verify you do have CO present. CO is not detectable by smell and can be fatal.
I agree completely. But your ?? about going bad - yes they do get "old".and should be replaced periodivally. You do not know how old the detector was when the mfr. put it in your trailer. If it is sounding off for no reason - get a new one! They are not expensive.

RE: Towing trailer behind Toad

The web site offered by jzick is pretty good. Also Trailer Life CG Directory has a table showing strate by state rules. As I ubderstand them most states only allow multiple towing when the tow vehicle is a fifth wheel. You will be taking chances in most other states.

RE: Where to place pressure regulator

It is all personal preference. I like my regulator and filter right at the camper so anything that may be picked up from the hose is filtered out. Only downside this way is the hose could be over pressurized and burst, but I doubt it, and it's outside so it's not going to do any damage like if inside plumbing would.
Joe
When unhooking, prior to travel, I coil my water hose and connect the two ends befor putting it into the storage compartment. Nothing can get in the hose between uses. Simple precaution - also prevents drip/leakage into the storage area.
My regulator goes on the cg spigot.

RE: Food allowed into States

Everything is allowed except lamb and citrus. We crossed on Thursday & I asked the Ag guy. That's what he told me.
We came back from our Banff vacation 3 weeks ago. The US Border agent only asked about lamb AND goat as well as fruit.
Don't have a pet so that question did not come up.

Simple answer here - Yes! It will save you a lot of $$. We do the same with our second(mama's) car while we are away for the winter.
